What we can offer

The North East and North Cumbria Staff Wellbeing Hub offers free, confidential support for anyone working in health or social care across our region. Whether you are looking for support for yourself, interested in one of our groups, or would like to find out more about one of our specialist offers, we are here to help.

You can contact us by completing our confidential self-referral form, by emailing hubstheword@cntw.nhs.uk, or by leaving a confidential voicemail on 0191 223 2030. We aim to make it as easy as possible to access support when you need it.

We offer fast access to confidential support from experienced NHS clinicians who understand the realities of working in health and social care. We aim to offer an initial appointment within seven working days, with no waiting list, and can provide further brief therapy or support sessions where helpful.

Most appointments take place by video call or telephone, making it easier to fit support around work and home life. Whether things feel difficult because of work, home, or a combination of both, we offer a calm, compassionate space to talk things through and consider what support may help.

We run a range of supportive online groups across the year, including skills-based groups focused on areas such as stress, managing emotions, communication, and self-compassion. These groups offer practical tools, shared learning, and a safe space to reflect with others.

We offer dedicated support for Autistic and ADHD staff working in health and social care across the North East and North Cumbria. These peer support sessions are designed to provide a thoughtful and supportive space to reflect on workplace experiences, connect with others, and explore more sustainable ways of working and caring for yourself.

Sessions explore themes such as communication, sensory experiences, stress and burnout, workplace expectations, self-understanding, and self-advocacy. The groups are open to staff who are formally diagnosed or self-identifying.

We offer one-to-one menopause consultations through the Hub with Jacqui McBurnie, our Hub Menopause Lead. Jacqui is a highly experienced clinical expert in menopause management and offers a confidential space to discuss symptoms, treatment questions, and practical support.

The Hub offers access to specialist support for health and social care staff who would like help to reduce or reflect on their use of alcohol or other substances. This support is provided confidentially through the Hub by a specialist psychiatrist with expertise in this area.

We also offer support for line managers to help workplaces better understand and support Autistic and ADHD staff. This includes online training focused on neurodivergent experiences in the workplace, as well as manager drop-in sessions where managers can ask questions and think through how best to offer meaningful support.

We also provide free workshops and presentations for teams on topics such as wellbeing, burnout, and mental health at work. Why not invite us to your conference or away-day?

If a team has been affected by a difficult or distressing experience, we may also be able to offer support and guidance for managers and teams. This can include psychologically informed support following challenging incidents

If you are experiencing musculoskeletal pain or problems that are affecting your work or day-to-day life, the Hub may now be able to offer quick access to digital MSK support through Sword Health. This innovative service provides a personalised recovery plan, guided exercises you can do from home, and real-time feedback to help you move safely and build confidence. It is designed to help health and care staff improve mobility, manage symptoms, and stay well at work.
